To enhance payment security and minimize transaction failures, SuiteSpot supports a $1 authorization hold on customer payment methods when placing a pre-order. This temporary hold verifies that the payment method is valid and capable of handling future charges. The $1 is not an actual charge and will be automatically released back to the customer’s account.
Why is a $1 Authorization Hold Applied?
- Validate Payment Methods – Ensures the payment method provided is active and has sufficient funds.
- Reduce Payment Failures – Minimizes the risk of declined payments when the actual order is processed.
How It Works?
$1 Authorization on Pre-Orders:
- When a pre-order is placed, the system will temporarily hold $1 to verify the payment method.
- This amount is not charged and will be released within 3-5 business days, depending on the bank's policies.
Real-Time Authorization Status:
- Customers will receive a notification during checkout about the authorization hold.
- If the authorization is successful, the pre-order proceeds.
- If it fails, the customer will be prompted to use an alternate payment method.
Support for Multiple Payment Methods:
- Customers can add multiple payment methods to their account.
- If the $1 authorization fails, they can select a different payment method and try again.
Notifications and Alerts:
- A pop-up message during checkout will inform customers about the $1 authorization hold.
- Customers will be assured that the amount is not deducted permanently and will be refunded.
Automatic Release of Authorization Hold:
- The $1 hold is automatically released back to the customer’s account within 3-5 business days.
- Customers will be notified once the amount is released.
Handling Authorization Failures:
- If the authorization fails due to insufficient funds, expired cards, or other issues, an error message will be displayed.
- Customers can update their payment method or choose another one to retry the authorization.
Managing Payment Methods:
- Customers can add, remove, or update their payment methods within the SuiteSpot App.
- A default payment method can be set for pre-orders.
Additional Notes on Authorization
- Pre-Orders: If a deposit is not configured, a $1 authorization hold will be applied.
- Pre-Orders with Deposits: If a deposit has already been collected, no additional authorization is required.
- Game Day Orders: A 120% authorization hold is applied to account for potential order modifications.
- Game Day Order Updates: If a Gameday order is updated, the system will reauthorize the payment accordingly.
