Self Checkout KIOSK on 6IX POS

In recent years, self-checkout systems have become increasingly popular in retail stores. These systems enable customers to scan and bag their items themselves, reducing the time spent waiting in line and improving the overall shopping experience. By using 6IX self-checkout, retailers can eliminate issues and offer a faster, more efficient, and seamless checkout experience to customers.

How does it work?

Once the Self Checkout KIOSK mode is enabled for enabled, you can simply register and log in to the POS as normal and, customers can start scanning/adding items to the cart. Once items are added, they can proceed with the checkout as normal.

Registration

Registration on KIOSK mode is similar to registering the POS.

Tap on the 6IX POS icon to open the app on your device.

Activation

Click on 'Activate' to register the account.

Fields Description
Username Enter the username supplied in your welcome letter (email). If you have not created a merchant account, select Sign Up to start the signup process.
Password Enter the password for the user.
Company Code Enter the Company Code. This is usually the name of your business
Register ID Enter the register ID (The register should be KIOSK mode enabled)

 

Once Sign In is completed, you will be taken to the launcher screen that the customers can access.

The launcher screen has 2 options for the customers can choose from:

Scan Items: This allows the customers to simply scan the barcode of items they are going to purchase and add it to the cart. Customers can scan the barcode of each item using the scanner within the kiosk. The scanner reads the barcode and displays the item details and price on the screen. Each scanned item is automatically added to the virtual cart displayed on the screen.

Touch to Order: For items without barcodes (e.g., fresh produce), customers can select items from the menu and add them to the cart.

Login As Supervisor

The "Login as Supervisor" option allows merchants to access the KIOSK application with supervisor or authorized user credentials. Once logged in, users gain extended access to all POS functionalities, including the ability to update products, apply discounts, and modify configurations.

Start Ordering

Touch to Order button will take the customers to the menu screen that will list all the items. They can access all the menu tabs and click on the item to add it to the cart.

You can update the quantity by clicking on the + or - button.

Click on the 'Add To Cart' button to add the selected items to the cart.

When customers are ready to pay/checkout, navigate to the Checkout button at the bottom. It will take you to the cart screen display a summary of all items, including quantities, prices, and total amount due. Customers can remove items or adjust quantities if needed.

Proceeding To Payment

Click on the Pay button, choose the desired payment methods listed on the screen, and complete the payment. Customers choose their preferred payment method from the options provided.

The KIOSK offers multiple payment methods, such as Credit, Debit cards, EBT, Gift cards, and Split payments.

After the payment is successful, the KIOSK asks if the customer wants a printed receipt or an emailed receipt.

If chosen, the KIOSK prints the receipt, and the customer can collect it from the designated slot.

ADA Mode on KIOSK

What is ADA Compliance?

ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) compliance ensures that all electronic information and technology, including self-checkout systems, is accessible to individuals with disabilities. The 6IX KIOSK has been updated to meet ADA standards, making it more inclusive and user-friendly.

The ADA standards focus on:

  • Accessible design for individuals with disabilities.
  • Reachable interface elements for users in wheelchairs or with mobility challenges.
  • Adjustable UI for ease of interaction.

How does the ADA Mode Work?

The 6IX Self-Checkout KIOSK now features an ADA Mode designed to simplify interactions for users requiring accessibility support.

  • Activating ADA Mode:
    • The ADA Mode can be enabled by pressing the wheelchair icon located at the bottom of the launcher screen.
    • Once activated, the interface adjusts automatically, ensuring all interactive buttons and options are displayed within the defined ADA reach zones for accessibility.

  • Key ADA-Compliant Features:
    • Optimized Screen Layout: Buttons and interactive elements are moved mid-screen to accommodate users in wheelchairs or with limited reach.

Using ADA Mode on the 6IX KIOSK

  • Start the KIOSK:
    • Tap the 6IX POS icon on the device to open the application.
    • Log in with your username, password, company code, and register ID.
  • Enable ADA Mode:
    • From the launcher screen, tap the wheelchair icon at the bottom-right corner to switch to ADA Mode.
  • Scanning Items:
    • Select Scan Items to begin adding products to your cart by scanning barcodes.
    • The barcode scanner and on-screen buttons are designed for easy access.
  • Touch to Order:
    • Select Touch to Order to browse and add items without barcodes to your cart.

  • Checkout Process:
    • Review your cart summary on the screen.
    • Click Pay and choose your preferred payment method. Options include credit/debit cards, EBT, gift cards, and split payments.

  • Post-Payment Options:
    • After completing payment, the kiosk will offer a choice to print a receipt or email it.

Supervisor Access in ADA Mode

Supervisors or authorized personnel can log in to the KIOSK using their credentials to:

  • Manage products.
  • Apply discounts.
  • Update kiosk configurations.

Considerations for ADA Compliance

  • Ensure the kiosk's physical placement allows wheelchair access, with a centerline height not exceeding 48”.
  • UI adjustments for walk-up users and wheelchair users are seamless, with interaction buttons placed appropriately on the screen.
