Steps for POS reading Embedded Price/Quantity

Follow the instructions below to set up an Item with Embedded Price/Quantity

  1. From CAS, navigate to Management --> Inventory Classification --> Master Item.
  2. For Embedded price/quantity items it is mandatory to have the same ItemID as the UPC and it must be of 5 digits. Enter other product details.
  3. Navigate to Extended Information --> Select SKU Type as Embedded Price/Quantity
  4. Click Save.

Example:

02PPPPPxCCCCz - This is a 13 digit barcode format known as EAN-13 or UPC-B.

It must begin with “02″ to inform the scanner and POS that this is a price/weight embedded barcode.

The five “P” characters represent the product code, which should be the same on both the scales and the POS.

All five characters must be used, so if a product code is “14″ it will appear in the barcode as “00014″.

The “x” character is known as the price/weight checksum. It is generated by the labeler and provides a way for the price/weight to be verified as correct.

The “C” characters represent the price/weight of the item. An item priced 9.99 would appear as 0999.

The “z” character is a checksum for the code as a whole.

02 PLU (5 Digit) weight ck digit(x) CCCC (Weight) z (barcode ck digit) = 13 digits

0200450xCCCCz

REMEMBER when you create the item, you are just using the 5 digits ItemID/UPC - the other components are automatically understood when the item is designated as Embedded.

Embedded_Price_2

When you scan the barcode check if the product starts with "02" or "20" and the scan code length is 13

Here is an example of an EAN13 barcode (0220005180433) 13-digit price embedded. Each of the digits represents information on the item:

02 - The "header," indicating that the barcode has embedded information

20005 - The SKU/PLU for the item

18043 - The price ($180.43)

3 - checksum of the barcode's previous digits
