Release Notes POS 4.3
Loyalty Program
Have you wanted to offer rewards to your best customers, now you have a loyalty program integrated into your POS. The loyalty program will allow you to award points for money spent or for units purchased. Award any point-to-dollar ratio you'd like.
Example 1: frequency based - 1 free after 8th purchase – such as used in espresso bars
Example 2: Dollar amount spent - $200 in sales awards a $10% discount

Cash Payout Feature
Sometimes your business needs to take money from the cash register, but it’s not for a sales transaction – no inventory is sold, such as for paying out on a winning lotto ticket. The Cash Payout feature lets you specify a customized label for the payout to help you keep a record of what occurred. The new payout label name appears on your Daily Sales Report.

Salesperson Percent
Businesses that keep track of sales made by employees can enable the option on the POS. The cashier can select which employee the sale is attributed to from all clocked in employees and you can select one or more employees, giving 100% of the sale to one employee or splitting the sale among multiple employees. The sales person report is available on CAS.

Quick Pick Feature Enhanced
The Quick Pick feature has been enhanced to display items from an additional level. This works great for a retail business with a style with multiple colors or sizes. This helps display the quick picks with the specific items that the customer is interested in.

Tips and Tip Reporting
Retail businesses that accept tips can now collect the tips on the POS system (for credit card transactions). When the tip feature is enabled, the credit card receipt will have a line for tip and the cashier can adjust the payment amount to include tip. A report is available on CAS

Ignore Lead Zeros on UPC
With this feature enabled, the POS will strip the lead zeros from the read bar coded value. This is helpful when item ID's and UPC's have been entered into the database without lead zeros - with this enabled only the numeric entries are read. An Example: the UPC is 0088899994678 on the product barcode label and the UPC is saved in the system as 88899994678. Instead of the system saying "Item not found", it will search for just 88899994678 and bring up the item to complete the sale.

The syncing of data is now bi-directional - you can choose to sync your POS data to CAS or vice versa. The Sync page has also been redesigned to remove unnecessary options.

You don't currently have a customer facing pole display? Be sure to get one from your equipment provider
ID Verification Pop Up
For businesses that want to verify age on the sale of certain items - we have added an age verification pop up - which can be flagged on classifications. This makes an easy reminder for the cashier to ask for identification when certain items are sold.
Open Bank - Mode
In our last release, we enhanced the application so that the open bank function will be accessed automatically when the user opens the sales transaction screen. This saves time when a customer is ready to ring up their sale and the bank has not been opened for the day.
This feature has been further enhanced, to now open the bank in the bank mode selected for the store (not only simple mode, but modified and detailed modes are also available).
Release Notes POS 4.1.02
Utilities – BarCode Labels
Improved clarity and format makes for an easier to read barcode label for your customers to see.
An enhancement has been made to allow the cashier to start typing in the item ID, UPC, or even the item description and pull up the items that meet the search criteria. Just another way to make the sale a smooth process…
Transactions – Verify ID Prompt
You now have the ability to select certain items to prompt at the sales screen – reminding the cashier to verify the customer’s ID. Great new feature for convenience stores.
Transactions – Void Multiple Items
It has just become easier to void multiple items from the sales screen. Just carry the item over to the trash can to remove it from the sale.
Transactions – Search for items from the scan box
Transactions – Modify Items at the POS
Items can be modified on the POS. This is a convenient way to make changes when the store realized that an item has incorrect information. Items can be changed on the sales transaction page and immediately rung up – the customer won't even know that there was a problem with the item.
Configuration - Dropbox for Backups
We all realize the importance of scheduling a backup of your database. We have now made it more convenient to store the backups and retrieve the information when needed, by using a drop box. The drop box is easy to set up and is available for a nominal setup fee ($20) and a $3.95 monthly maintenance fee. This is a small price for knowing that a backup will be available if disaster strikes and data is lost. Take the backup, restoring it, and you are back up and running before your first customer arrives.
Utilities – Redesigned Sync Page
Now that looks nice! For the rare occasion where you need to sync the POS data with CAS, the page has been redesigned to make it a quick, easy to complete action.
Release Notes POS 4.1.01
POS Quick Pick
An enhancement has been made to allow for the cashier to have an additional level of pre-defined customizable speed keys for ringing up sales quicker and easier. The Quick Pick is set up on the POS and will provide up to 108 additional items to the cashier for a quick sale without needing to scan the barcode.
This is especially useful when a rapid check out is needed such as in a market or convenience store.
Price, Discount, and Coupon can be set at “0”
An enhancement has been made to allow for the price of an item, a discount percent, or a coupon amount to be set at zero “0”. A pop up will be displayed asking the cashier for the amount to be used. This is a handy feature for businesses where certain items are often priced differently.
New Currency Buttons
On cash sales, the currency buttons have been enhanced to allow for a quicker completion of the sale.
Vendor name is no longer required on items
Items can now be created without entering a vendor/supplier name. This allows for more flexibility for those users that do not distinguish between vendors and are not using this field to track or monitor sales or inventory. Including a vendor as information on each item in the system is now optional.
Price and information is now editable from the POS
From the sales screen the user can permanently change the price and other information on items. This allows for users who notice an incorrect price on an item to quickly make the adjustment directly on the POS.
Disclaimer can be set by sub category
The system now has the ability to print a disclaimer on receipts by sub category. The user would select the sub category and add the disclaimer message (up to 250 characters). When an item is sold from this sub category a disclaimer will be printed on the sales receipt. A signature line can be added so the customer can attest to the statement.
This feature is helpful when groups of items in inventory require additional disclosures at the sale.
Refactored Recommended Items
The screen where recommended items are displayed for the cashier has been redesigned for easier readability. The cashier can also select multiple items for sale to the customer.
Password Management
Enhancements have been made to aid in password management. As required for PCI compliance, user passwords expire every 90 days, but now the password can be changed directly on the POS. The user no longer needs to access CAS to perform this function.
Norse Integration
We welcome Norse as the newest payment gateway to be integrated into our application. As with the other payment gateways, credentials can be entered on CAS or the POS.
Release Notes POS 4.1
Serial Numbers for Items
Items in your inventory can have a serial number attached to them to allow for more detailed tracking of these items. This can be used to identify more expensive items like antiques, computers, electronics, automobiles, and jewelry. Serial numbers also allow you to keep detailed records about an item’s warranty and, if necessary, recall information.
You can select to always require a serial number on an item or make it optional – this can be selected by item or classification level. You could have the category of Computers and require that the serial number is entered every time an item from this category is sold or returned. This feature can be used to provide additional security on these items by requiring a serial number be entered when sold or returned.

In Store Credit Pay Mode
Users can now use Store Credit as an option of payment. Practical uses include using store credit on returned purchases in place of using gift cards or for the regular corporate customers picking up supplies and paying their corporate account on a monthly basis (this must still be tracked/maintained off system, as this feature only makes available the payment option).
Decimal POS - Code Update
Our decimal application (which allows for quantity to be in decimal numbers – such as when you weigh items (produce/meats) or sell in bulk (grains/teas) is now integrated into our application so that all enhancements are available to those using the decimal feature.

Release Notes POS 4.0.25
The following are the release notes for POS 4.00.25
NOTE: minimum Java version 1.6
Multiple Suspended Transactions
The application has the ability to suspend multiple transactions on the POS for the instances when many customers are in various stages of completing their sales transactions. The system will suspend the current transaction and allow for a new (or resumed) transaction to be completed and later the cashier can return to the sale.
This enhancement helps the cashiers deal with multiple sales at once.
Receiving Merchandise from the POS
Inventory can now be received directly from the POS, making it so the retailer does not need to access the CAS to receive merchandise. This allows for an added option of convenience to receive inventory.
Receiving – Ability to add items
As part of the enhancement of adding inventory at the POS, new items can also be created as part of the receiving process for ease of function. This allows for the retailer to not only add inventory for existing items, but to also quickly add new items to the system during the process.
Customers with lead zeros in zip are correctly saved
The system will now retain the lead zero in a zip code beginning in a zero.
New Multiple Item Discount
In addition to discounts and coupons the merchant can now offer other types of promotions – such as buy 3 for $20.00. If sold individually, the items sell at the normal price, if 3 are sold they would be at the promotional price. The group of items to include in the promotion will be defined on the CAS and must originate from the same department or category. The minimum cost of an item to include in the promotion can be set, so as not to include inventory that should not be part of the discounts.
Add Item from Sales Transaction Screen– now also add opening Quantity
When a new item is added from the sales transaction screen, the user can also add the opening quantity from the same screen. This will save time when the new inventory is received that has not been entered into the system yet.
Item lookup – now in alpha order
The item look up on the sales transaction screen now displays the drop down options in alpha order.
Executable Folder Name
The folder name with the executable has been renamed to “retailcloud”, in order to better reflect the name associated with the application.

MIGRATION TO JAVA WEB START
When installing the application on the POS, the process has been simplified to also load the current version of the supporting applications (mysql, java, and JRE). This should provide all merchants with a consistent, easy installation. This should be used on a unit that has not previously been installed with mysql or java.
Release Notes POS 4.00.22
The following are the release notes for the POS 4.00.22
CUSTOMER’S DATE OF BIRTH
You can now also retain the date of birth in the customer record. This information can be used to send targeted promotions for those with a birthday coming up.
ADD ITEM - REVAMP
The sales transaction screen has the ability for the user to add items that have not previously been added to the system. This screen has now been expanded to allow the user to add all attributes and classifications and the cost of the item. The expanded attributes allow for the items created from the POS to be more fully created. The more specific the information created for each item, allows for reports to more fully provide the results being sought.
Recommended items - enhanced
The algorithm used in the recommended items for “What others also purchased” has been refined to better reflect the most purchased items by those who also bought the item.
Studies have found that using this type of feature can greatly increase average transactions, making an easy way to add “MSIB” (More stuff in bag). Set up of this feature is done on the CAS under the Configuration tab.
Reprint receipt from any pos
Receipts can now be reprinted from any POS in the Enterprise. This is useful when a customer is returning merchandise from a different location. The CAS search which pulls the receipt from different locations can only be done by store managers or supervisors.
Release notes POS 4.00.21
Please refer to CAS 3.6.3 release notes for additional enhancements
Long awaited - this release is full of exciting enhancements
HIGHLIGHTS
Package Items - Bundle complimentary items at a discounted price - perfect way to move merchandise. Now the cashier is prompted to ask the customer if they purchase one item in the package if they are interested in adding "Item XXX" for $XX.XX". The customer may not have been aware of the packaged promotion - now they are happy (and so are you)!
Gift Receipts - When a customer is making a purchase as a gift and wants the recipient to be able to return the item if it does not suit them, a gift receipt can be created. It can be created from the Edit Item screen or after the sale from the sales screen "Search" button.
Building your customer data - It's so important to the retailer to know their customers - who are your top customers based on frequency of sales or most profitable. Often the challenge is to add the customer to the sales transaction. This has been simplified with the ability to add by swiping their drivers license.
Adding Customer data using a Driver’s License
Customers can now be added by swiping their driver’s license through the magnetic swipe. This will allow the cashier to quickly and accurately add the customer to the CRM and when Go Green is enabled; digital receipts can be emailed to the customer. Retailers who are looking to actively track their customer activity, should consider enabling CRM builder (v20), this will ultimately allow you to create customer groups and offer them “club or special” pricing as well as generating more specific recommended items and promotional programs (v23).
When collecting customer data, make sure that your network is secure. Once entered, the data will be encrypted in the database; however retailers are encouraged to follow the PCI recommendations to properly secure all customer data.
Barcode Printing of Transaction Number On Receipts
The transaction number will now appear as a barcode on receipts. This will allow users to process returns by simply scanning the barcode when doing a search.
This easy method of retrieving transactions can be tied with the verified refunds feature to implement a return policy that is based on the prices and discounts on the original transaction automatically. If your return policy also requires that customer data be entered, you can generate customer history data that can provide you with all the customer sales activity, as well as some data on the transaction and profit margins generated.
Debit Card Acceptance
Pin based debit cards are now certified for processing on the Redfin and Zivo gateways. Debit cards provide retailers with a lower cost alternative and may provide you with additional protection against chargebacks. If considering this, you may also want to think about offering Dwolla as a payment option. It is another new low cost payment vehicle that opens the world of mobile payments to you.
Discount - Cost Plus
This allows for a discount to be structured at a percentage above cost. This feature allows merchants to offer either certain customers or groups of customers a favorable discount that is sure not to go below cost. Typically a discount like this is reserved for employees or “friends and family” or owners.
Since this discount is based on cost, it will be important to make sure that costs are correctly entered into the system. Retailers who utilize this type of discount will probably want to track overall costs using the purchase order and inventory receiving functions of the CAS. In addition to correctly reflecting costs, it will also provide you with reporting on any cost variances from your vendors as well as return on investment reporting on a classification, attribute or vendor level.
Emailed Receipts – Redesign
Emailed receipts on Go Green sales transactions have been redesigned to be more dynamic and user friendly. Customers will be able to see their purchased items and transaction data.
With the mail server set, merchants are able to send out email receipts to customers entered into the database. Combined with the CRM builder feature (v21), retailers will be able to build a database that will ultimately be able to accurately predict customer product preferences.
The digital receipts, in addition to having transactional information, can also include your promotional messages as well as your brand logo.
Note: Merchants will need to have their mail settings added to be able to send out emailed receipts. When using emailed receipts, merchants can save the cost of paper and be able to offer a “green” option. By collecting customer data through the CRM builder, merchants can better create and distribute promotions and sales.
Gift Card Receipt (For Recipient)
In v21, when gift cards are activated on the POS, a receipt with the gift card activation information will be generated. Users will be able to give the receipt to the customer so that they are able to verify the amount and provide it to the gift card recipient.
Gift Receipts – Revamp
Gift receipts can be printed for items that are being purchased for someone other than the customer. This allows the recipient to know where the item was purchased and to exchange the item for something else if necessary. The receipt will print a barcode on it that can be scanned by the cashier to retrieve the original transaction information in the event of a return.
A keyboard shortcut was added (Alt-F) for faster receipt printing. All Keyboard shortcuts can be generated from the Transaction Screen and a full listing can be viewed by using ALT_H.
Expired Coupons Still In Drop Down
Retailers can set coupon promotions for a date and time range on a recurring basis. When the coupons expire, it will no longer be visible on the POS, but users with appropriate rights will be able to view and modify them on the CAS.
Coupons are fixed amount discounts and can be applied at an item level for specific items, or using the mass modify feature, they can be applied to an entire classification or attribute of items across the enterprise or at a specific region or store.
This feature can be used in conjunction with the attribute analysis report and the sales tracking summary report to build automated promotions to drive traffic during specific dates and times to specific stores or for specific items.
Item Look Up Search CAS Not Displaying Results
Item look up for CAS will create a wider search and look at all items in the master tables database. Searching on the POS can be faster by limiting your search options and providing criteria. Users will be able to search using one or a combination of classifications and attributes.
The item listing report on the CAS can provide users with appropriate rights a listing of all items and classifications or attributes can be modified individually or in groups from the Master Item screen. Classifications and attributes can also be merged from their individual screens
When modifying classifications and groups consider the blog post “ABC of Classifications” as well as the data available on the Attribute Analysis report as a guide on how to gain optimum results in your category management.
Merging Of Classifications And Attributes
Merging a classification or attribute listings, will allow for classifications and attributes of the same type to become a single listing, while maintaining the items associated. Department, Category, and Sub-Category can be merged with like listings to become a single representation of the classification, the items associated will be moved to the new combined classification.
By using reports such as the attribute analysis and inventory listings, Merchants can gain better insight into how best to merge classifications and attributes. Using these reports, you can get a better understanding of redundancy within the classifications and attributes and make the necessary adjustments, creating better basics for analyzing your data and projections.
Package Item Revamped
Merchants are able to create logical packages or bundles for like items. An option to prompt the cashier when partial pre-set packages are rung up, allows for an opportunity to offer additional items to create the special priced “Package”. Items that are packaged and scanned together will be recognized as the package and will be sold as such.
Packages or bundles can be an easy upsell feature or promotion by pairing linked items or combinations of items. Using packages as an upsell feature is easy to set up and modify. Merchants can also create recommended items for set items to be offered.
Store Logo Printing
Store logos that are within 100 by 100 pixels, can be printed on to transaction receipt. The logo will print at the top of the transaction receipt above the header information. Logos can be saved under the POS and CAS. This provides an easy way to display your logo on each sale and add to the recognition of your logo to your customers. Logos entered here will also be displayed on emailed receipts.
USB Printers
Merchants will be able to set the USB printer settings under the hardware settings, to allow for it to print directly to that port. Depending on the hardware type, drivers will need to be installed for the printer. Tax Inclusive Transaction Calculations
Enhancements have been made to the tax inclusive to support features available in tax exclusive calculations such as multiple tax rates (with minimum amount requirements) within the same tax structure.
The tax inclusive is useful for retailers who wish to price their items in dollar increments and for those interested in running tax related promotions like “we pay the tax” sales. Applying the tax rate as tax inclusive for the weekend, allows the system to track sales tax while the customer sees it as a price that includes tax.
Release Notes POS 4.00.20
Total Items Sold Counter In version 4.00.20, the transaction screen has the new addition of an item counter. This will calculate the number of items scanned and entered to allow an easy count of what the customer has purchased. When large purchases are rung up at the POS cashiers, users can verify how many items need to be in the customer's bags or parcels. The item total also appears on the customers receipt.
CRM Builder The "add to mailing list" prompt and customer tracking has been rebuilt and redefined, to operate as a CRM. Users will notice a redesign of the mailing list prompt in how it records information from credit and Dwolla transactions to be used as the customer record. This ease of adding customers will allow for a more complete customer database. With more complete data, the precision of the uses increases. Merchants can create targeted marketing campaigns to enhance their bottom line and make their customers feel like they are special.
Discount Combo Drop Down The discount can now be entered using a scanned barcode or be manually entered directly on the sales screen. This is useful for merchants who have a discount for members or use a barcode for the discount on their promotional material.
Release Notes POS 4.00.19
Dwolla as a Payment Option
Dwolla is a new payment network that works with your financial institution to offer a cheaper, safer, and overall better payment experience. Merchants can create a Dwolla account that will let Dwolla users pay via a transfer of funds. This is a secure and cost effective way to accept payment. Dwolla users can use smart phones and web browsers to pay for transactions at the register as simple as a cash transaction.
Merchants will notice that among the tenders that a spot for Dwolla has been added, so that they may easily access the feature. Dwolla is easy to set up.
Be on the innovation forefront. Your tech savvy customers will appreciate being able to use this cutting edge technology to pay for their merchandise and you, the retailer, will benefit from being able to say you are offering this new and innovative process.
Auto Coupon- Start and End Time
Coupons created on the CAS have the ability to be set to be active on a set frequency of monthly, weekly, and daily; along with the ability to set general use or item use. Coupons can be set to run automatically from the POS so that when the criteria is met the system will apply the active auto-coupon to sales on the POS.
Merchants when setting a coupon will notice that the system will show the end and start dates for the coupon set active, so that they can maintain which coupons are active, for promotions or sales.
Printed Gift Receipts
At the complete of a transaction, users will be prompted if they would like to print a gift receipt. The gift receipt will include transaction information and items, while excluding payment information. The gift receipt can be issued to customers that wish to have the option to return, using the refund verification, without giving the sales receipt.
With refund verification , that only allows returns to be made with a coordinating transaction number to the items sold; making it faster to bring up transactions while adding security to return transactions. With the gift receipts you have the same ability to do returns, from the transaction number, by offering another service to your clientele, without losing security and speed at check out.
Currently this feature is enabled via a toggle on the POS>Configuration>Settings>Transactions and upon activating, the cashier will be prompted for gift receipt on all sales. An enhancement is upcoming to enable per transaction, with the ability to select which items in the sale will be included in the gift receipt.
Company Logo and Store Logo
Company logos can be added to the POS system through the CAS company information screen. This logo will appear on all screens for the POS, while the store logo can be added to the store location under modify hierarchy. Store logo has been redesigned to print on POS sales receipts and save locally to the system image folder. So merchants that choose to include a store logo on the receipts can now insert an image (200x60 pixels) and have that print on sales receipts, with the header and footer information. Adding an image to the POS gives a professional and personal integration with the POS. It allows you to personalize the software for your company. Most company logos are found on any type set or business card; this will help create brand recognition for your business with it found on your merchandise receipts.
Settings Not Found for Payment Gateway
When using the POS without Payment Gateway Settings, the system would not let users navigate to the credit card payment details screen. Now when settings are not found, an error message will direct the user that settings need to be entered on the system to continue with a credit card sale.
Duplicates In Drop Downs
Duplicate Classifications that have been created and saved on the CAS, will appear as duplicates in the drop down fields under item creation and item lookup. Users will be able to add and create items to the duplicate named classifications.
Debug Mode
Added to the POS Configurations screen, there is an option to Debug the logs for a ten minute window. This provides enhanced logging (showing more details), so additional information to help resolve an issue is provided to the user. The logs affected are JMS, POS, and Track. Debug will record enhanced activity for that window of time, besides just error messages, so that users will be able to replicate issues and have a clear log file of what is happening.
Merchants using Debug will be able to become familiar with the logging system and how it can resolve many issues.
Release Notes POS 4.00.18
Recommended Items Enhancement (#1072)
The user now has the ability to create multiple Recommended Items which populate at the point of sale for cashiers to offer as suggested purchases to the customer. This enhancement allows for more options for the cashier to offer, resulting in the possibility of greater sales potential.
POS setup on Linux (#1057 & 1035)
The POS can now be set up on Linux and other operating systems. Previously to setting up on Linux was a manual process of creating tables, uploading the structure and data from a POS. An alternate, efficient means has now been instigated to streamline this process.

Release Notes POS 4.00.17
Customer Records at POS
POS databases will now only contain customer records for customers created at the store and those who have done transactions at the POS. When a transaction is performed for a customer who is not in the POS database, the application will pull the information from the CAS and update the local database similar to the way items are handled. In the event that there is no ongoing internet connectivity and the pos needs to have all customer records a sync can be performed at the time of download and whenever connectivity is available to download all records. This feature has been modified to only have required customer data at the POS and to keep the size of the data file to a minimum.
Automatic Coupons
The new Set-it and Forget-it, Automatic Coupons allows you to set your Coupon time periods and let the system handle the rest. The criteria for an automatic coupon has been enhanced to allow for specific time and date settings to apply to the coupon. The retailer can now apply the coupon for specific times of the day (such as from 4pm – 5pm) or by day (Tuesday specials). This allows for greater flexibility to target consumer sales during times or days of the week with lulls in sales.

The user now has the ability to create a promotional message of up to 250 characters which will be displayed on the customers receipts. This can be created on the CAS or POS.

Z and ZZ Reports
An enhancement has been made to add Z Reports and ZZ Reports to the POS, allowing for the totals to be reset at the POS. Previously totals were "Z'ed" out at 4am. The current Daily Summary Report displays all data since the last Z Report. Running the Z report closes the bank and sync's the transactions. Additionally the ZZ report has been added that runs a Z Report, and prints a summary of all Z reports since the last ZZ Report. This function is useful for shift changes mid day to reset totals at the POS for the new cashier.
Essentially this will allow users to reset totals during a day and the run a consolidated ZZ report for the entire day
Z Report and ZZ Report
Pop up alert on Z and ZZ Reports
When the Z and ZZ Report buttons are pressed a pop up warning appears to confirm that the user wants to proceed (as totals are cleared when the reports are generated). This makes it so users are less likely to run the reports in error.
