Integration with Yellowdog (Sales)

Yellow Dog Software is a company that develops inventory management software. Their goal is to deliver a software system that allows clients to work faster, smarter, and uncover areas of business that need improvement . They are inventory focused, which means they aim to be the best inventory solution in the industry.

In Console, navigate to Settings→ Integrations → Yellow Dog

Once retailcloud POS is connected to Yellow Dog, it will facilitate the transfer of sales data from our POS to Yellow Dog. Once the integration is established, sales data will be automatically transmitted to Yellow Dog at specified intervals or in real time. Merchants using Yellow Dog reporting will be able to view and analyze sales data seamlessly through Yellow Dog's reporting features.

retailcloud now supports seamless item syncing with Yellow Dog, making it easier for merchants who manage inventory in Yellow Dog to synchronize item data directly into retailcloud’s POS system.  Note: the Item Sync is only recommended for retail customers. This integration positions Yellow Dog as the source of truth for inventory, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and better item management.

To start syncing items from Yellow Dog to retailcloud:

  1. Toggle “Enable Item Sync” to ON (disabled by default).

  2. Once enabled, the “Sync Items” button becomes active.

  3. Use the dropdown to select a Yellow Dog store to sync from (store selection is required).

  4. Initiate the sync to pull item data.

🔁 The sync happens daily and only imports items from the selected Yellow Dog store. When configuring the Item Sync Store, the user should select the YD store that contains the accounts entire product catalog. If an existing YD does not exist meeting that requirement, another store should be created and have all items added in YD. Once the YD Item Sync store is selected retailcloud will publish two "3rd Party Codes" to the selected store in YD. It is mandatory that each item be assigned the "3rd Party Codes" to successfully pull into retailcloud. 

  1. The following 3rd party codes will be seen in the above YD store
    1. RetailcloudTax & RetailcloudEnabled
  2. All items that will be sold in retailcloud should have the correct tax assigned in the RetailcloudTax field and marked as TRUE in the RetailcloudEnabled field.

Attribute Mapping in YellowDog

To ensure a seamless sync, we recommend merchants to custom map Yellow Dog attributes (like Dimensions and Levels) to retailcloud fields. The Attribute Mapping section becomes available only when Item Sync is enabled. Once a retailcloud attribute is selected, it’s removed from the dropdown to avoid duplicate mapping.

This process will allow the merchant to setup more detailed Quickpicks (speed keys) on the POS and is highly recommended. 

Mappable Fields:

  • YellowDog Attributes: Dimension 1-2, Level 1-4
  • retailcloud Attributes (dropdown): Department, Category, Sub-Category, Color, Size, Team

This integration enables merchants to access sales reports using Yellow Dog reporting tools, enhancing their ability to analyze sales performance.
