A Master SKU is a unique identifier that groups multiple related items under a single reference, ensuring that all transactions and inventory updates for linked items are consolidated under one SKU for better tracking and reporting.
Use Cases:
- Businesses that have multiple items that they want to treat as one item (same item with different Item ID's such as every season the same item SKU changes)
- Consolidating sales and inventory reports for multiple SKUs of the same item.
A Child SKU is any item that is linked to a Master SKU. These items may have different Item IDs or UPCs but are still considered variations of the same product. Transactions for Child SKUs contribute to the Master SKU’s total sales and inventory balance.
How to Set Up a Master SKU?
- Decide which item should serve as the Master SKU for grouping related SKUs.
- Go to Catalog > Items > Add Item in the Console.

- Master SKU – Enter the SKU that will group this item with others.
- Other Details (mentioned in Items)
- Save the item.
- Note: All transactions (sales, adjustments, transfers) for Child SKUs will now be reflected under the Master SKU for reporting purposes.
