Stripe Terminal Integration on ZeroPOS

ZeroPOS now supports semi-integration with Stripe Payment Terminals, enabling seamless in-store payment experiences through devices like the BBPOS WisePOS E. This integration provides a wide range of payment capabilities designed to support real-world retail operations, including wallet payments, refunds, tipping, and more.

ZeroPOS app communicates with Stripe's hardware-based terminals via the Stripe Terminal SDK, while payment data is handled securely by Stripe.

With Stripe terminals integrated into ZeroPOS, users can use the POS to accept card & wallet payments through stripe terminals, process refunds, split payments etc.

The integration is designed to deliver:

  • A secure, end-to-end payment experience with Stripe Terminals.
  • Smooth handling of advanced use cases such as wallet transactions, partial refunds, and split payments.
  • Offline functionality with automatic sync and payment session recovery.
  • Integrated tipping and gift card top-up options.
  • Accurate reconciliation and reporting of all Stripe transactions.

With Stripe terminals integrated into ZeroPOS, you can now:

  • Accept In-Person Payments: Process chip, swipe, and contactless (NFC) card payments using Stripe-approved terminals.

  • Support Wallet Payments: Enable mobile wallet options such as Apple Pay and Google Pay.

  • Handle Refunds: Issue full or partial refunds directly back to the original payment method.

  • Split Payments: Allow customers to pay using multiple payment methods (e.g., two cards).

  • Operate Offline: Continue accepting payments even during connectivity issues, with a store-and-forward mode that syncs once online.

  • Enable Tipping: Add tip options directly within the checkout flow.

  • Top-Up Gift Cards: Accept credit card payments for recharging store-issued gift cards.

  • Recover Payment Sessions: Handle timeouts and disconnections gracefully with built-in payment retrieval workflows.

  • Ensure Reconciliation: Maintain accurate and traceable payment records across systems.

User can connect ZeroPOS with Stripe by navigating to Configuration → Hardware → MSR → Stripe

Stripe Terminal Network Diagnostics: helps users to quickly identify common connectivity issues between ZeroPOS and Stripe Terminal readers. Users can perform built-in network checks directly from the Hardware Configuration screen to determine whether the issue is related to DNS resolution, network connectivity, or the terminal itself.

Navigate to: Configuration → Hardware → MSR

Select Stripe as the payment terminal.

Two diagnostic options are displayed:

  • DNS Check
  • Ping Terminal

These options are hidden for all other payment terminal types.

DNS Check

The DNS Check verifies that the Stripe Terminal's hostname resolves to the correct IP address.

When you run the check, the application displays one of the following results:

  • Resolution Successful – The hostname resolves to the expected IP address.
  • Incorrect IP Address – The hostname resolves, but to a different IP address than expected.
  • Lookup Failed – The hostname could not be resolved, along with the corresponding error message.

This check helps determine whether the terminal can be located on the network before attempting communication.

Ping Terminal

The Ping Terminal option verifies whether the Stripe Terminal is reachable over the network.

  • Automatically populates the connected terminal's IP address.
  • Allows users to enter a different IP address if needed.
  • Validates IP address format before running the test.
  • Displays whether the terminal is reachable along with the network response time.

If the DNS check succeeds but the ping test fails, the application indicates that the issue is likely caused by network configuration, such as:

  • Wi-Fi isolation
  • VLAN configuration
  • Firewall restrictions

rather than a hardware issue with the Stripe Terminal.

The Ping Terminal dialog accepts only valid IPv4 addresses.

The application validates:

  • Required IP address
  • Correct IPv4 format
  • Valid IP range (0–255 per segment)

If an invalid IP address is entered, an inline validation message is displayed and the ping request cannot be started until the address is corrected.
