Amazon JWO Integration in Console

Follow

Amazon Just Walk Out (JWO) is a checkout-free shopping experience that allows customers to enter a store, pick up items, and simply walk out. Payments and loyalty discounts are applied automatically—no traditional checkout required.

With retailcloud’s JWO integration, your store-specific pricing and loyalty rules are carried over to Amazon’s system. This ensures customers are always billed accurately, and you maintain full visibility of these transactions in your Console.

How to Integrate Amazon JWO in Console

To connect your store with Amazon JWO, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Console → Settings → Integrations → Just Walk Out.

  2. In the JWO integration screen, map your store details:

    • retailcloud Store (dropdown)

    • retailcloud Web Register (dropdown)

    • JWO Store ID (provided by Amazon)

    • Loyalty Provider (currently supports YinzCam and VenueNext only)

  3. Click the + button to add a new mapping entry.

    • All fields must be completed before saving.

    • Once mapped, a store is removed from the dropdown to avoid duplicate entries.

  4. Click Save.

Your store is now linked to Amazon JWO.

Item Sync in Amazon JWO

Once your store is mapped, you’ll need to sync your products with JWO.

  • In the same JWO setup page, click Sync Items to transfer the store’s entitled items from retailcloud to the JWO system. This sync respects pricing, descriptions, and UPC eligibility.

  • Syncing ensures that the items Amazon detects in-store match your retailcloud catalog. This guarantees customers are charged the right prices and that loyalty discounts are applied correctly.

  • We’ve added VenueNext as a supported loyalty provider in the Amazon Just Walk Out (JWO) integration. This gives merchants more flexibility, allowing customers to enjoy VenueNext loyalty benefits in addition to existing YinzCam programs.
  • VenueNext is available in the loyalty provider dropdown, alongside YinzCam.
  • In the Console JWO Configuration, you’ll now see VenueNext available as a loyalty provider, alongside YinzCam.
  • When VenueNext is selected, retailcloud will:
    • Identify the customer through VenueNext.
    • Retrieve applicable loyalty discounts.
    • Apply those discounts automatically to JWO transactions before the final total is sent to Amazon.
  • This ensures customers shopping in JWO-enabled stores can continue to enjoy their VenueNext rewards seamlessly.
  • Delegation Mode: When setting up JWO in the Console, you’ll notice a field called Delegation Mode. This defines how the order is handled between retailcloud and Amazon JWO.
    • Order (Default)
      • retailcloud passes through order info & totals to JWO.
      • retailcloud only receives the order details and totals.
      • These are then passed directly to Amazon JWO for final processing.
    • Full
      • retailcloud fully manages the transaction before sending to JWO.
      • retailcloud handles the entire transaction process — including applying discounts, loyalty, taxes, and calculating totals.
      • Once finalized, retailcloud passes the order total back to Amazon JWO.

Viewing JWO Orders from Financial >> Order

Orders from Amazon JWO appear directly in your Order Grid within Console.

  • Each JWO order is clearly tagged with Order Source: JWO.

  • Users can use the filters Order Source: JWO to view only JWO transactions.

  • JWO orders in the Order Grid:

    • Error Message: Shows the error message of why the order failed

    • Retry By Date: Shows the deadline to retry a failed order

    • Retry Button: to attempt recovery for failed transactions. Retry button is only available for 48 hours after order creation. Once expired, the retry button will be disabled.

Retry Mechanism for Failed Transactions

Sometimes, issues like missing items or payment failures may cause an order to fail. To handle this, retailcloud provides a Retry option for JWO orders.

Here’s how it works:

  • Failed orders are marked with Status: ERROR in the Order Grid.

  • Click the Retry button (available for 48 hours after order creation).

  • Depending on the issue:

    • If an item was missing in retailcloud, first add it to your catalog, then retry.

    • If it was a payment issue, retry will reprocess the billing, taxes, and loyalty discounts.

  • If successful, the order updates to PAID/COMPLETED.

  • If it fails again, it remains in ERROR.

  • The Retry button is temporarily disabled for 5 minutes after each attempt (to prevent multiple retries at once).

  • The Retry button will be disabled after 48 hours the order creation date.

  • No duplicate orders are created—the system ensures only one successful transaction is saved.

Auto Retry for JWO Payments

We’ve introduced an automatic retry mechanism for Amazon Just Walk Out (JWO) transactions to ensure smoother payment processing. If a payment attempt fails, the system will now retry the transaction multiple times over a 48-hour period from the order creation time. This reduces the need for manual intervention and helps capture revenue that might otherwise be lost.

Retries happen automatically if the payment fails.

The system attempts up to 6+ retries within the 48-hour retry window.

The payment capture percentage decreases with each retry to increase the chances of success.

  • Retries 1–3: Attempt to capture 100% of the order total.

  • Retry 4: Attempt to capture 90% of the order total.

  • Retry 5: Attempt to capture 70% of the order total.

  • Retry 6: Attempt to capture 60% of the order total.

  • Retry 7+: Capture the authorized amount:

    • If the adjusted amount is less than the authorized amount, the system captures only the adjusted value.

    • If the adjusted amount is greater than the authorized amount (partial capture occurs), the extra balance is taken as Store Credit.
