Historical Inventory Balance Report (In Transit)

Follow

The Historical Inventory Balance Report (In-Transit) (HIB-IT) lets you review how your inventory (including in-transit quantities) looked on any specific day in the past.

It provides a clear picture of your historical inventory movements, helping with trend analysis, reconciliation, and audit tracking.

It works alongside your existing Historical Inventory Balance Report (HIBR) but adds the in-transit quantities to the item’s QOH (Quantity on Hand).

The system automatically takes a daily end-of-day (EOD) snapshot of your in-transit inventory.

Each snapshot is a fixed, read-only record that captures your IBR-IT data exactly as it appeared at that time.

You can view reports for up to 90 days of historical data. If you try to access a date beyond 90 days, the system will display an error message indicating that the data is no longer available.

The report includes all items that are in transfer but not yet received, ensuring accurate tracking of inventory in movement. QOH in this report = Current QOH + In-Transit Quantity.

The Historical Inventory Balance Report (In-Transit) helps you see exactly how your inventory — including items in transit — looked on any past day.

The HIB-IT provides a daily, unchangeable snapshot of all inventory that was in transit at the end of each day. This means you can now look back at any date and see exactly what inventory was on the move, helping you understand trends, review past delivery cycles, and audit inventory values for specific days.

Key Features

  • Daily Snapshots: The system automatically saves a complete record of your in-transit inventory at the end of each day.

  • Historical Analysis: Easily review and analyze how your in-transit inventory has changed over time.

  • Enterprise-Level View: The report shows totals for your entire organization, not individual stores.

  • No Impact on Existing Reports: This is a brand new report and does not change your current Historical Inventory Balance Report (HIBR).

How Does This Report Differ from Other Inventory Reports?

  • The HIB-IT is similar to your existing Historical Inventory Balance Report, but it includes all inventory that was in transit at the end of each day.

  • The original HIBR remains unchanged and continues to show inventory on hand without in-transit quantities.

Benefits

  • Better Planning: Understand historical inventory movement to improve future planning.

  • Accurate Auditing: Easily verify what was in transit on any past date.

  • Trend Analysis: Spot patterns in your supply chain and delivery cycles.
