Size Brick

Overview

Go to CAS --> Management --> Inventory Classification --> Attributes --> Size Brick

This function allows the user to create a size brick that can be used to quickly create a group of items from the Purchase Order or Merchandise Receiving screen. When creating an item under the purchase order (or Merchandise Receiving), if the user selects a size brick, then the new item is created in all the sizes of the size brick and listed below for the user to choose from.

Creating a size brick is the same as going into the Inventory classification and selecting the size from the list of available sizes that are displayed if the size brick includes sizes that have not been previously established, a New Size can be defined.

Size brick can be enhanced to include other attributes in the matrix, as well as a price matrix. Once the first Master Item is created (select the size brick) and press Modify Size Brick. This will navigate you to the Attribute Matrix to include attributes such as color, style, etc in the new items created. It can be expanded to also include a price matrix.

Details

Enter the Description of the Size Brick to be created.

Select the Size from the list of available sizes that are displayed, if the size brick includes sizes that have not been previously established, a New Size can be defined.

If the name of the Size Brick did not previously exist the brick is added and a successful message is displayed. If a previously established name is used an error message is displayed and the brick needs to be renamed in order to save. If a previously added size is being defined as a New Size the transaction will not save and an error message will be displayed, correct the entry and save.

The Size Brick is then used to create the Size and Attribute Matrix (many items at once)

Access

Access to this function at an enterprise level is limited by default to the System Administrator and Financial users only. Accounting, store managers, warehouse general managers as well as zone managers and human resource managers may modify size brick settings at Venues or Store assigned to them.

Attribute Matrix

Using the size brick matrix, you are able to create an attribute matrix (in addition to size, select additional attributes in the item creation).

When Modify Size Brick is selected on the Master Item screen, the Attribute Matrix is displayed. Enter the attributes that you wanted creating in addition to sizes.

 

To add attributes, enter the attribute in the box, (enter "b" and it will show all Colors with a "b" in the color), highlight and press Add. Once added to the larger box, it is available to add to the attribute size brick

To apply a price matrix to the items being created enable the Price Matrix and select the Price Matrix from the drop-down

Press save to create all of the items that fit the criteria (as displayed on the Modify Size Brick screen)

What is Size Brick?

A size brick is when the system creates additional items in various sizes when an item is created or modified.

When is it needed?

A size brick is used when a merchant purchases the same item in multiple sizes. The size brick will create additional itemID's/UPC's for the item in the sizes specified. This makes it so the merchant does not need to create new items manually for each different size. The process it made simply through the size brick feature.

What are the steps to use a size brick?

Create a Size Brick ( CAS --> Management --> Inventory Classification --> Attributes --> Size Brick ) - From this screen give the size brick a name and designate which sizes will be included in the size brick

 

Create New or Modified Items with a Size Brick

From the Master Item screen, create or modify an item so that you have the item information displayed on the screen. Select the size brick to be used from the drop-down and check the box indicating that you want a size brick to be created based on this item.

Press Save - The success message will appear and also say that the size brick was created successfully

or

Press Modify Size brick to immediately make modifications to the items in the size brick, press save (the pop up will go away) and you can save the item/size brick)

Modifying the Size Brick

Once the items are created from the selected size brick, the user can remove items that should not be created (you didn't order that size) or the UPC can be modified to reflect the correct UPC for the item (as the size brick will create the item with a not specific auto-generated UPC).

 

 

To create/modify the size brick

Search for the Master Item that the size brick items will be based upon. Press Show. Select the size brick and check the size brick box. Then press Size Brick.

The pop up will be displayed that shows the new items created from the size brick. These items can be modified or deleted.

You will then be taken back to the Master Item screen - press Save - the size brick items are now saved.
