Provenance Setup in Console

Overview

Provenance is a product tracking and verification system that helps merchants maintain detailed records about an item's origin, authenticity, ownership history, and movement through the supply chain.

The Provenance integration allows merchants to connect retailcloud with their Provenance application for item authenticity, origin tracking, and chain-of-custody management.

  • Provenance Setup – Configure the connection details required for retailcloud POS to communicate with the Provenance system.
  • Provenance Classification Tagging – Identify which product classifications contain items that require provenance tracking.

Together, these features allow merchants to control both the connection to the Provenance platform and which items should participate in provenance-related workflows.

Provenance Setup

The Provenance Setup screen allows users to configure the credentials required for retailcloud to establish a connection with the Provenance application.

Navigate to: Settings → General → Provenance

Configuration Fields: The Provenance Setup screen includes the following fields:

FieldDescription
TokenAuthentication token provided by the Provenance system.
URLThe full Provenance application URL used for integration.
ConnectSaves the connection details and establishes the pairing.

The Token field is masked by default and includes a visibility toggle for secure entry.

Once the Token and URL have been entered, users can select Connect to save the connection.

If the integration is no longer required, the pairing can be removed using the Remove Pairing option, which clears the stored credentials.

Provenance Enabled Classification Tagging

To identify products that require provenance tracking, a new Provenance Enabled option is available on classification records.

The Provenance Enabled checkbox can be found on: Catalog → Department, Category, Sub Category

When the Provenance Enabled checkbox is selected, all items associated with that classification become eligible for provenance tracking within the POS.
