Streamline the Self-Checkout Experience in KIOSK

Follow

RFID self-checkout kiosk is designed to provide a fast, seamless, and user-friendly experience for customers. With advanced features like automated item detection, flexible payment options, and supervisor-enabled transaction controls, the kiosk ensures efficiency and convenience. Here's an overview of its functionalities:

Simplified Self-Checkout Process

The kiosk leverages RFID technology to automatically detect items placed in the bin, eliminating manual entry and reducing checkout steps.

  • How it Works:
    1. Place items in the RFID bin.
    2. The kiosk automatically displays product details, prices, applicable taxes, discounts, and the total amount.
    3. A Checkout button appears directly below the total amount, allowing you to proceed to payment.

Flexible Payment Options

Customers can choose from multiple payment methods for added convenience:

  • Split Payment: Allocate the total amount across multiple payment types (e.g., card, gift card, loyalty points) before completing the transaction. A “Void” option is available for split payments, requiring supervisor authentication to cancel the transaction if needed.

Donation Prompt

  • If donations are enabled, a prompt appears after selecting the checkout button. Customers can select a donation amount or choose “None” to skip.
  • Donation feature by displaying the organization’s name, logo, and additional details on the donation popup. These improvements aim to build customer trust and encourage higher donation rates.

Supervisor-Authorized Transaction Controls

For added security and control, certain features require supervisor authentication:

  • Void Option for Split Payments

    • If a customer encounters an issue during a split payment (e.g., insufficient balance or card error), a supervisor can void the transaction.
    • The void process cancels the entire transaction and reverses any partial payments.

Gift Card Support (STS Integration)

The kiosk supports STS Gift Cards, enabling customers to use them as a payment method during self-checkout.

  • Features:
    • Scan or manually enter the gift card details to redeem the balance.
    • Combine gift card payments with other methods (split payments).
    • Use gift cards for both purchases and refunds.

Venuetize Payments using "Use Card On File"

Customers with Venuetize accounts can pay using their on-file card for quick and hassle-free transactions.

  • How It Works:

    1. Enter your member code on the Venuetize payment screen.
    2. View any applicable discounts and the remaining balance.
    3. Select "Use Card On File" to complete the payment using your stored card details.
  • Refunds processed through this method will be returned to the original payment method.

Mastercard Sonic Branding in Transactions

We have introduced Mastercard Sonic Branding (animation and sound) for all Mastercard transactions, including sales, refunds, and split payments. This feature enhances the payment experience by ensuring brand recognition and consistency during transactions.

  • Sonic Branding Activation: Mastercard animation and sound will play for sale, refund, and split payments.
  • Configurable Setting: Merchants can enable or disable Sonic Branding through a new POS configuration.

Permissions in Self-Checkout

Operations That Require Authorization:

  • Supervisor Override Mode – Restrict access to critical system settings.
  • Cart Item Edit – Control who can modify items in the cart.
  • Price Change – Prevent unauthorized modification of item prices.
  • Item Removal – Restrict who can delete items from the cart.
  • Cart Reset – Ensure only authorized users can clear the cart.
  • Discount Application – Control who can apply discounts (both item-level & transactional).
  • Transaction Refund – Allow only authorized users to process refunds.
  • Receipt Reprint – Restrict who can reprint receipts.

If a user attempts a restricted action, they will be blocked unless they have the required permission.

To proceed, an authorized supervisor or employee must enter their username, password, or PIN to approve the action.

On successful validation, the action is allowed, and the event is logged for tracking.

Fallback Mechanism: If no authorized user is available, the action will remain blocked until an authorized employee is present.
