KIOSK system is designed to offer a smooth and accurate discounting experience, ensuring you get the best value during your transactions. With flexible discount options available at both item and transaction levels, the kiosk makes it easy to apply the discounts you need. Here’s an overview of the discount features:
Discounts can be applied seamlessly through the kiosk interface. Whether it’s an item-level discount or a transaction-level discount, the system ensures that the appropriate savings are applied accurately.
Once a discount is applied, the adjusted total is clearly displayed, showing the savings upfront.
Kiosk supports manually applied discounts, such as:
- Item-Level Discounts: Apply discounts to specific items in the cart.
- Transaction-Level Discounts: Apply discounts to the entire transaction.
- Cost Plus Pricing: Adjust prices to reflect a cost-plus discount structure.
- Fixed Price Discounts: Set fixed prices for specific items or transactions.
Understanding the No-Discount Flag
When an item is flagged as "no discount," it becomes ineligible for any kind of discount, whether during a sale or refund. This includes transaction-level discounts, item-level discounts, and wallet discounts.
Let’s break it down:
Sale Transactions
-
Transaction-Level Discount:
- A discount applied to the entire cart will not affect items marked as "no discount."
-
Item-Level Discount:
- Direct discounts applied to individual items will not affect items flagged as "no discount."
-
Wallet Discounts:
- Wallet discounts will not apply to items with the "no discount" flag.
- If the cart contains both regular items and no-discount items, the wallet discount won’t apply to the regular items either.
Refund Transactions
-
Transaction-Level Discount during Refund:
- If a transaction-level discount was applied during the original sale, the discount will not carry over to no-discount items during a refund.
-
Item-Level Discount during Refund:
- If an item-level discount was applied during the sale, it won’t be reflected during a refund for no-discount items.
-
Wallet Discount during Refund:
- Wallet discounts used during the sale will not be reflected in the refund for no-discount items.
Multiple Discount Applications
- Reapplying the same transaction or item-level discount multiple times won’t accidentally apply to no-discount items.
Special Cases
- Donation Items: No discounts will apply to donation items flagged as "no discount" in both sale and refund transactions.
- Lava Discounts: Currently, lava discounts are not applied to carts containing no-discount items (this behavior may change in future updates).
QR Code Based Scannable Discounts
The QR Code-Based Discount feature allows merchants to apply discounts to a customer's cart simply by scanning a QR code. When the system detects a valid discount code within the QR, it automatically applies the corresponding discount, making the checkout process faster and more efficient.
How to Generate a QR Code for Discounts in Kiosk?
You can easily create QR codes for discounts using any free QR code generator.
Visit a QR code generator, for example: The QR Code Generator
Select Plain Text mode.
-
Enter your discount code in the format:
discount/{discount_name}(e.g.,discount/10%off)discount/{discount_id}(e.g.,discount/24)
Save/Download/Copy the QR code for use at checkout.
User can also customize accordingly to print the QR Code.
Tip: If a discount name and ID are the same, the system will prioritize the name.
How It Works?
When a QR code or barcode is scanned, the system automatically looks for discount codes in the format:
discount/{discount_name} or discount/{discount_id}
{discount_name}: Refers to the discount name as configured in your Retailcloud discount catalog.
{discount_id}: Refers to the unique system-generated ID for that discount.
If a valid discount is found, it is instantly applied to the customer’s cart.
Example: Scanning a QR Code to Apply a Discount
Scan the QR Code at the POS terminal.
A QR code contains the value:
discount/100offThe system extracts the discount name from the QR code.
The system checks the discount catalog for a discount named 100off
- It checks if the discount exists in the retailcloud discount catalog - The Discounts should be predefined in the Console under Promotions.
If active, the discount is applied directly to the cart
- If the discount is not recognized, an error message is displayed (e.g., “Discount not recognized”).
Important Notes:
Please remove { } before generating QR Code.
Spaces Not Supported – Discounts with spaces in the name (e.g., 50% OFF) cannot be applied via scanning.
Inactive Discounts – Scanning an inactive discount will show: “Discount not found”.
Case Sensitivity – Discount names are case-sensitive. A mismatch in capitalization will result in an error.
Special Characters & Numeric Names – Supported and can be applied if configured in the system.
Empty Cart – Discounts cannot be applied to an empty cart. An error message will appear.
Key Features:
Barcode Discount Scanning - Transaction-level discounts can now be applied via barcode scanning using the same format mentioned above.
Name Priority – If a discount exists with both the same name and ID, the name takes priority.
Supported Types – Works with AMOUNT, PERCENTAGE, and VARIABLE discounts.
Automatic Discount Application – Discounts are applied the moment a matching QR code or barcode is scanned.
