We’ve introduced a new configuration option for your POS system, giving you greater control over how barcode scanning works! You can now decide whether scanned items automatically add to the cart — all through a simple setting.
What’s New?
This feature lets you control barcode scan behavior based on your sales flow, making your POS system more flexible and tailored to your needs.
Key Features:
- Cart Screen Restriction: Configure whether barcode scans add items to the cart only on the cart screen.
- Configurable Setting: Enable or disable barcode scan restrictions from the Device Settings.
- Non-Disruptive to Other Functions: Barcode scans will still work for:
- Loyalty Program Sign-ups
- Supervisor Override PINs
User Flow:
-
Accessing Device Settings:
- Open the POS Settings.
- Locate the Barcode Scan Restriction option.
-
Configuring Scan Behavior:
- Enabled: Items are added to the cart only when on the cart screen.
- Disabled: Scanned items do not automatically add to the cart, but scanning still works for other functions.
-
Saving the Setting:
- Once you’ve set the desired behavior, save the settings — and you're all set!
Why This Matters:
- Better Workflow Control: Avoid accidental item scans when not on the cart screen.
- Flexibility: Choose the scanning behavior that best fits your store operations.
- Seamless Security & Loyalty Support: Even when restrictions are in place, key functions like PIN entry and loyalty sign-ups remain unaffected.
Getting Started:
- Update Your POS Software: Ensure you’re running the latest version.
- Adjust Your Settings: Go to Device Settings → Barcode Scan Restriction.
- Test the Behavior: Scan items both inside and outside the cart screen to confirm everything works as expected.
